shufflePool Play Placement Methods

When building the next round in SAGUPA's Next Round Builder, organizers can auto-pair advancing teams using these placement methods:

1

Mirror

Same seeds from adjacent pools meet. Often used for placement games where equal ranks face each other.

A1 vs B1 · A2 vs B2

2

Cross-Over (Most Common)

Top of one pool faces the lower seed of the next. Avoids early rematches between teams from the same pool.

A1 vs B2 · B1 vs A2

3

Snake

Seed 1 from each pool faces seed 2 from the opposite end of the pool list. Best with 4+ pools.

A1 vs D2 · B1 vs C2 · C1 vs B2 · D1 vs A2

4

Re-seeding

Ignore pool labels and rank every advancer by overall record, then pair high vs low (#1 vs #N).

#1 vs #8 · #2 vs #7 · #3 vs #6 · #4 vs #5

5

Fixed Bracket

Fill predetermined bracket slots from pool seeds (common in large events) so first-round opponents are known before playoffs start.

A1 vs B2 · C1 vs D2 · B1 vs A2 · D1 vs C2

6

Random

Shuffle unassigned advancing teams into pairs. Useful when building a round from elimination winners (no pool seeds).

Any vs Any

Organizers may also enable “Avoid same-club pairings” when using Random pairing, and may mark a round as Battle for Bronze so the brackets view shows Bronze Winner instead of Champion.
